We have just spent a wonderful few days at Wanders Retreat in the heart of Port Stephens, 2.5 hours north of Sydney. This was a stay with a difference as our accommodation was high in the trees. We stayed in one of their Eco Treehouses for two nights.
I would usually associate a treehouse with the image of a basic wooden structure that has bare essentials. Our treehouse was perfectly formed and felt luxurious (the bottle of bubbles in the fridge and the port on the table helped) and was lovely and warm.
What is eco about this? Well it is constructed with renewable quick growth timbers, it has a long drop toilet (amazingly odorless!) and the heating used creates very low emissions by only heating water that is actually used. All lights are energy saving which give the treehouse a really romantic feel. All waste on the site is separated into recycling, waste and compost. A worm farm is used to assist in providing additional nutrients to the plants on the site.
"At Wanderers Retreat we aim to be environmentally sustainable, and socially and culturally responsible. To this end Wanderers Retreat has been planted with over 1000 trees and shrubs, most of which are indigenous."
We were greeted by Ian who gave us a fantastic plan for our entire weekend which mixed lovely long meals with a bit of exercise walking up to the top of Tomaree Head and exploring the sand dunes at Stockton Beach. The weather was kind to us too, so on went the shorts as we explored this fantastic area.
You don't have to stray too far from the Treehouse though if you don't want to. Nature even comes to you with a reported friendly possoum that stops by (not when we were there!). There are also Koala's in the trees. We saw one just a short stroll from our pad.
Then when you have packed your day with walking and eating you can come back and relax in the wonderful spa bath. Perfect way to end the day.
Paperless Wedding highly recommend this as great location for a romantic getaway with a difference. Great place to come for a honeymoon or a wedding anniversary!

Paperless Wedding in Rarotonga

We are very pleased to announce that our couple from the March post, Taryn and Jason, are now Mr and Mrs Boyte. They were one of the very first couples in NZ to use Paperless Wedding, giving us lots of great support and feedback. The package that they took was our full Invitations and Website service.
They used the site to the maximum - filling it with all kinds of information. As you can see below they covered everything from where to eat out through to the accommodation.
So enough about us, what about the wedding? The weather was perfect, and the venue was excellent. Taramind House was right on the beach with a great view of the sunset.
We wish Jason and Taryn a lifetime of fun, love and happiness!
